A type of hormonal contraceptive pill that a woman can take after she has had unprotected sex. ECPs prevent pregnancy when taken within three days (or 72 hours) of having sex. These pills are safe for women who cannot use other contraceptive methods. ECPs are 98-99% effective in preventing pregnancies. These pills must be taken as per the doctor’s prescription.
